Al Manaratain is one of the largest producers of concrete blocks in Bahrain. In fact, we have three automated plants across Bahrain that are dedicated to producing high-quality concrete blocks, all complying with the international and ministry standards of course. Our concrete blocks come in a variety of strengths, sizes and finishes for use in a versatile range of construction projects. Let’s take a look at the difference between these concrete blocks and the various applications for each.

Hollow Blocks

Due to their low concrete capacity, hollow blocks are a lightweight and cost-effective concrete product to use in large scale construction projects. This is because the reduced volume of concrete used to make them saves on the cost of building materials whilst their light density makes them easy to apply. Most commonly, this type of concrete block is used for constructing interior, exterior and partition walls. Their hollow core provides enough room to apply reinforcing materials such as steel bars should the design require it.

Lightweight Blocks

Although low in weight, lightweight blocks are robust and durable concrete products that are perfectly suited to a versatile range of projects including basement walls, internal floors, partitions and ceilings. At Al Manaratain, we manufacture our lightweight blocks using a lightweight expanded clay aggregate known as “LECA”. This gives our lightweight building blocks an exceptionally low density that significantly lowers application costs and offers fantastic acoustic and thermal insulation, perfectly suited to the likes of sports centres, theatres and swimming pools.

Insulated Blocks

For any building, it’s important that insulation is installed in order to prevent excessive heat absorption that can increase the need for air conditioning and therefore increase energy costs. That’s where insulated blocks come in. Manufactured with expanded polystyrene inside, our concrete blocks have a very low ‘U-value’ meaning there is a minimal amount of heat that transfers from the exterior to the interior rooms. As such, our customers are able to save on energy costs. In light of these qualities, our insulated blocks are used widely in both government and private projects.

Decorative Split Block

Of all the concrete blocks that are available, a split block is one of the most visually appealing. Our decorative split blocks have a beautiful natural look and are available in a range of colours and smooth and rough finishings. The natural qualities of these concrete blocks mean that no extra money needs to be spent painting or plastering them whilst their interior construction means they possess fantastic insulation properties. You’re most likely to see decorative split blocks used on exterior walls, however, their durable nature makes them suitable for a diverse range of construction projects.

Hourdi Roof Block

For building durable, long-lasting floors and roofs that are cost-efficient, Hourdi roof blocks are the best option. These concrete blocks usually rest on reinforced concrete T-beams for support and are best suited to building roofs in hot climates. This is due to their hollow capacity which gives them greater thermal insulation properties. Available in 7”, 9” and 12”, Al Manaratain Hourdi roof blocks are ideally suited to your next roofing or flooring project.

Solid Block

Renowned for their strength and durability, solid concrete blocks can be used in a variety of internal and external applications such as cavity walls, solid wall constructions or internal load-bearing walls. Solid blocks also have good fire and water resistance, insulating/ acoustic advantages and numerous aesthetic possibilities. It’s no wonder they’re one of our most popular concrete blocks here at Al Manaratain!
